Our Price: 20.00
Strauch 6" Hand Carders
Our Price: 84.00
Here's a fun item -- the mini hand card cleaner. Use it to clean fiber out of your cards, as a Mini-Flicker, as a tree ornament. It even cleans Velcro!

Wood base: 1" x 2", 128 teeth/sq. inch

Use the Flicker to separate locks and matted fiber prior to spinning.

The Flicker pad measures 2-1/8" wide x 4-1/2" long.

Strauch Hand Cards are made entirely of light weight poplar wood. The handles are designed to fit in your hand. When you close your hand, notice that your fingers and palm form a cylinder. Having straight handles makes each pair comfortable and easy to use. The wood on Strauch hand cards are sealed with Watco Danish Oil and need only to be occasionally cleaned with a high quality liquid lemon oil furniture polish.

Wood base: 5-3/4" x 4-1/2", 112 teeth/sq. inch

Strauch Drum Carder Strauch Drum Carder Strauch Drum Carder
Strauch Petite Belt Drive
Our Price: 570.00
The Petite is a manual drum carder with a polyurethane drive belt. This carder is great for fiber artists with budget and/or space considerations who want a Strauch quality machine. As with all Strauch drum carders, the Petite comes with our Brush Attachment. The three working tools (Batt picker, doffer brush, dabber brush), as well as a table clamp, are included with each carder.

The Petite is an excellent choice for a mid-sized carder with full sized features. The Petite is slightly smaller, with 6 3/4" wide drums instead of the 8 1/4" wide drums on the singlewide chain drives. The carder produces a batt approximately 6 1/2" wide x 22" long. The Petite also has a 4:1 drum ratio.

The frame is made from high durability MDF material. The Petite frame is 16" long, 10" wide and 7" high.

An important feature: The tall frame allows the handle to easily clear the table surface.

This unit is equipped with the #05 (128 psi) fine carding cloth on the large drum and our unique Slicker-Licker cloth on the small drum. Designed to handle ALL fibers including merino, llama, alpaca, cashmere, dog hair and other exotics.

Since this is a light-duty carder, it is not available motorized.

Our mid-range Strauch chain drive drum carder is made from solid ash with a Watco Danish oil finish and as with all Strauch drum carders comes standard with the Brush Attachment. The three working tools (Batt picker, doffer brush, dabber brush) are included with each carder.

The 200 Series drum carders are the only series that comes with a choice of carding cloth for the large drum: fine, medium, and coarse.

Model DC-205 with the 05 fine-128 tpi.cloth. Designed to handle ALL fibers including merino, llama, alpaca, cashmere, dog hair and other exotics.

For those with specialized carding needs, there are two coarser styles of card cloth available for the carding drum (the large drum). All cloth uses 3/8" long plated steel wire in a tough rubberized cloth backing. The price for either of these two carders is the same as the DC205:

Model DC-203 with the 03 medium-98 tpi.cloth. Can be used successfully for coarse to middle range fiber such as Cheviot and Romney as well as adult mohair. Useful for long fibers such as Border Leicester to get a deep batt. NOT recommended for finer fibers.

Model DC-202 with the 02 coarse-72 tpi.cloth. For very coarse fibers specifically for felting.

The 200 Series uses a smaller sprocket yielding a turning ratio of 4:1. Because of this the frame height is 4" and therefore this carder has to be at the edge of the work surface, allowing the crank to clear the table.

Also, due the frame height, a motorized version is NOT available. If you are planning in the future on having a motorized carder, consider the Finest. It can be upgraded at a later time.

Table clamps and Teasing Tool are available separately.

Our customers requested a Strauch-quality carder that would produce those wonderful, outrageous "art batts" full of exciting fibers and textures.

We now offer the Strauch Model 302 series "Mad Batt'r" art drum carder as part of our regular product line. This carder has deeper pins (1/2" long) and coarser carding cloth (72 teeth per sq. in.) on the large drum to accommodate all the fun add-ins that make these art batts say "Spin me!"

Thick batts weighing more than 2 ounces can easily be made. The Brush Attachment makes it easier to control the type of art batt you are making.

Naturally, it also has the unique Slicker-Licker cloth on the small drum. As with all of our 200 Series carders, the Mad Batt'r has a 4:1 turning ratio. The three working tools (Batt picker, doffer brush, dabber brush), as well as a set of table clamps, are included with each carder

However, as of Jan. 1, 2016, the Mad Batt'r will be built on a 6" tall solid ash-wood frame (just like the Finest series). It easily allows for future upgrading to the motorized version. An added benefit is that the handle swings free of the table.

It is also available as a motorized model.

Strauch Drum Carder Strauch Drum Carder Strauch Drum Carder
Strauch's flagship model is the Finest model 405-BA. This top-of-the-line model is unique and comes complete with the Brush Attachment and all accessories.

Having a chain as the drive mechanism provides a constant positive non-slipping action while carding and is far superior to belt drives.

The Finest has a 5:1 drum ratio. You obtain more carding action per revolution, hence quickly producing a beautiful, well blended batt. One to two passes are usually sufficient for a nice batt.

An important feature: The tall frame allows the handle to swing free of the table surface.

Designed to handle ALL fibers, including merino, llama, alpaca, cashmere, cotton blend, dog hair ......... on and on. A truly universal machine!

It is also available as a motorized model.

For those who need a larger production size machine, all three models of the 200 Series carders are available as doublewides. These models have drums twice as wide as their singlewide counterparts.

Other than size, the 200 Series doublewides have the identical features and benefits as the singlewide versions.

As with the singlewide, because of the four inch frame height, a motorized Series 200 doublewide is NOT available.

Our customers requested a Strauch-quality carder that would produce those wonderful, outrageous "art batts" full of exciting fibers and textures. The manual carder has become so popular that offering a motorized version was the next logical progression.

Having both hands free makes it easier to control the type of art batt you are making. Since you can set the drum rotation speed to a particular value, your batts are consistent. Thick batts weighing more than 3 ounces can easily be made.

It uses the same motor and electronics as the Finest series. Included are all accessories and the Brush Attachment.

By popular demand, we have developed a motorized series of Finest drum carders. This includes both the singlewide and doublewide machines. In addition, both existing Strauch hand crank chain drive Finest models can be upgraded to the motorized version.

These machines are truly unique in the marketplace and built with the same high standards as the hand crank models. They are "high tech" drum carders having both infinitely variable speed AND reversibility features. The "infinitely variable speed" feature (not just two or three speed settings) is a God-send when working with fine fibers like alpaca, merino and cashmere.

Our carders use very high quality, durable, electronically controlled motors that are made in the USA! All these machines have been extensively beta tested by some "heavy duty" fiber artists and they all have raved about the design, workmanship, and durability.

The dimensions of these carders are the same as their manual counterparts.

The large drum on the single width carder is 7" in diameter x 8¼" wide. The small drum is 2" in diameter x 8" wide. The carder produces a batt approximately 8" wide x 22" long. The frame is 24" long, 11½" wide, 6" high.

There are switches on the circuit board to choose between 110v (domestic) and 230v (international). Naturally, carders shipped to US customers are pre-set to 110v.
